Recently a friend wanted to go to one of the most famous beaches of Dominican Republic in order to enjoy a day at the beach. However, his day became really short after a women approched him and offered him his little 12 year old girl to this person.
It is shoking how still in todays society despite all the police and security that are involved we still have such problem in Dominican Republic.
We hope that something will be done soon. Furthermore the above mentioned news was immediately reported to the local police and that particular beach is now under surveliance.
After the failure from 2000 to 2004 of President Hipolito Mejia (PRD) who has mentioned that he would not be able to do anything regarding child prostitution due to the fact that i was part of the touristic cycle. Thanks to the new elected president in 2004 and re-elected this year 2008, President Leonel Fernandez (PLD) has managed to create a campaign together with the first lady in order to help children who are involved in child prostitution.
These children have now the chance to go to school and they will be given free school uniform, books and lunches which are all provided by the government.
We have found out that there are various NGO’s who are starting to help children around the world to help in order for these children to receive a better life.
Remember that its not the amount of people that counts that are helping its the quality of people and if we all get together we can be sure that all these children can have a brighter and better future.
Just imagine their faces by receiving simple lessons and being able to play with children their age. Imagine how their eyes change a simple smile can change your day. So be part of this and join any of these NGO’s to help.
Good news!!! Air France and British Airways are showing videos on their airline when departing and arriving at any latin american or asian country in order to redece and even stop child prostitution. Banners are even placed at the entrance of the airport in order for tourists to be avere of such phenomenon.
Sashel where children finally have a place where they can be children again and escape the crude and rough reality of the streets.
However, why child prostitution?
Well the question is not why, but, when did it all start?
Child prostitution goes back many many years, and perhaps you cannot even imagine it… so let me tell you how everything started… as from the beggining… you might get a better perspective!
